South Street Park

Hudson, Massachusetts

WDA assisted the Town of Hudson in seeking State grant funding ($700,000) for the expansion of the 2-acre park located along the Assabet River in downtown Hudson, MA. The focus was on realizing the Urban River Visions initiative of the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs and the Town of Hudson. WDA's Concept Plan for the park incorporated the acquisition of adjacent land and connections to the Assabet River Rail Trail by integrating riverlandings, connections from Main Street, and year-round recreational amenities for residents. The park includes a skateboard park, water splash pad feature, opportunities for enjoyment of a small canal that traverses the site, playgrounds, a summer concerts pavilion, lawns, and a river walk. The river walk and pedestrian bridge connect a rich variety of park spaces on either side of Tannery Brook.

Our services included concept formulation, surveying, design development, coordination with the Town’s Planning, Parks & Recreation, Economic Development, Conservation Commission, and Public Safety Departments, permitting, and preparation of bid-ready construction documents.
